maintenance/training Massage

By including regular massages as a part of your training program, you help maintain your body in an optimal condition, therefore enabling you to continue pushing hard toward your sporting goals.  Regular massage during training also gives the opportunity to work on any specific niggly areas, or chronic muscle tension that has developed,  breaking down adhesions, improving flexibilty and improving overall tissue health.

In addition to keeping muscles healthy, regular massage allows the body to maintain relaxation giving it the chance to recover and repair/rebuild after heavy training sessions.

Massages are generally 60-90 mins in length and are tailored to training phase the athlete is currently in (Base, Peak, Taper etc).

Pre- event massage

Useful not only in warming up and loosening the muscles which enhances their response during competition, but also aids in preventing injury, as muscles that are warmed up and prepared are able to contract freely without stressing tendon areas.

Usually a short massage of 10-15 mins concentrated on the muscles about to be used, or on any problem "niggly" areas. A Pre-Event massage conducted within the hour prior to competition can benefit the athlete by warming and loosening soft tissue, enhancing flexibility and mobility, increasing blood flow to muscles, stimulating nerve endings and helps focus the athlete for the job ahead.

Post event massage

Completed immediately following competition, or within the next 24 hours.

Post Event Massage aids the athlete in recovery from the activity, reducing post-exercise soreness and facilitating a faster return to ongoing training.  A better recovery allows the athlete to return to their normal physiological state as quickly as possible ensuring that performance in the next training session/competition is not compromised by muscle soreness or fatigue.

Approximately 30 mins in length, it consists of moderately firm flushing strokes which aim to re-align muscle fibres to their original size and shape, flush wastes that accumulated during exercise, re-establish range of motion and blood flow to tight muscles, and decrease the likelihood of Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness.
